Editorial Rule
To qualify for inclusion in the B&C there is only one rule - something described must have been said to have happened.
The authority is the Editor, British Army Review No 114 Dec 96, `If the facts don`t fit the legend, print the legend’.

However, the rules of good taste, respect and confidentiality are always applied.

Rule Britannia!

THE 6 R ANGLIAN 1973 LESSON BY BEN TURNER AND THE BLACK EYE OF MILES GREEN ARE RECALLED
In May 1973 the Norfolk Editor first appeared at Dereham TA Centre as a potential 6 R Anglian OCdt. The lesson attended is clearly recalled - Slidex (a defunct Signals manual encoding system) by PSI (ie Permanent Staff Instructor) CSgt
Ben Turner. ‘On that evening in May 1973 I first met the recently retired Norfolk ACF Dep Comdt, Lt Col Miles Green, sporting a huge black-eye (or, as we would say in joint company, with no-one else listening - ‘Bleck ooi’) from a 1973 6 R Anglian Home Defence Exercise. From then on we became life-long friends. (Miles, to this day, takes his coffee ‘Bleck’.)’

THE 3 R ANGLIAN SITE
There is a majestic site at www.3ranglian.com of the Territorial Army Infantry Unit of East Anglia, based in Bury St Edmunds, formed on 1 Apr 2006.
It was formerly 6 R Anglian (formed 1 Apr 1971) then became the ‘East of England Regt’ in the ‘Options for Change’ in 1998.
What a stupid name for a ‘one battalion’ unit ! Thank goodness someone in MoD ‘saw the light’ - or maybe noted my observations which went far and wide?
It was to be ‘4 R Anglian’, in keeping with the age-old tradition of so naming the TA Bn but someone in MoD ‘thought different !

THANKS ELFRIDA
My thanks to our younger daughter Elfrida for scanning some of the photographs in this issue and for permitting me to use her home PC.
One weekend when Elfrida was aged three, I was as ever, out with the Territorial Army (as OC the infamous and notorious Thetford Gangster/Destroyer Pl - an essential requirement for enlisting was having served a term at Her Majesty’s displeasure !). Watching an elderly neighbour, Cyril, washing up, Elfrida observed: ‘My Daddy doesn’t help my Mummy. He plays soldiers!’
I’ll take this opportunity to congratulate Elfrida, now 33, on her graduation this summer from the University of East Anglia, no mean feat for the mother of 2 young children ! [B&C 107]
