Agency is the single point of contact within the Ministry
of Defence for providing information and advice on issues
of concern to veterans and their families.
A free Helpline service 0800 169 2277, in working hours,
Mon to Fri, will deal with enquiries from ex-Service
personnel and their dependents.

If you want information about someone who has died, you
need to send a copy of their death certificate, unless
they died in service. As service records are stored in
various places around the country, to find the address you
should write to for the records, contact the Veterans
Agency, Norcross, Blackpool, FY5 3WP, Free Helpline 0800
169 2277, help@veteransagency.gsi.gov.uk
If you are not a close relative (next of kin) you will
also need the written permission of the closest relative.

THE DEFINITION OF
A VETERAN
The term veteran is used to mean all those who have served
in the UK Armed Force, including their widow(er)s and
dependents. If you have served in the UK Armed Forces,
regardless of whether it was in war or during peace time
or if you were a volunteer, reservist or national
serviceman, you are considered to be a veteran. [B&C 104]
