How to find Service Information
If you want information about someone who has died, you need to send a copy of their death certificate, unless they died in service. As service records are stored in various places around the country, to find the address you should write to for the records, contact the Veterans Agency, Norcross, Blackpool, FY5 3WP, Free Helpline 0800 169 2277, help@veteransagency.gsi.gov.uk If you are not a close relative (next of kin) you will also need the written permission of the closest relative. You may have to pay for the information.

The definition of a Veteran
The term veteran is used to mean all those who have served in the UK Armed Force, including their widow(er)s and dependents. If you have served in the UK Armed Forces, regardless of whether it was in war or during peace time or if you were a volunteer, reservist or national serviceman, you are considered to be a veteran.

Message for Charles Whall seeking Great Uncle Hugh Robinson kia WW1

Charles, my response to your e-mail address c.whall@ntlworld.com failed so here is the text of what I sent in response to your query:
I am trying to trace the details of two brothers (my great uncles) who are were killed in action during WW1. My mother informed me that they served in France/Belgium with the Royal Norfolk Regiment but all other details have since been lost through the years. I have a definite name of
one brother, Hugh Robinson, but am unsure of the other.
Obviously this information is not much to go on but I would appreciate your help on how to approach such an undertaking in order to revive the memory of these two lost brothers.

I have nothing on file but looked at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site at www.cwgc.org
where I found the following R Nfk WW1 casualties with the surname Robinson at:
